It’s a simple word but it describes something important about us. We are ‘because’ beings. We don’t do things just because we simply wanted to. Even as Sir Isaac Newton said, “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”. What we do is just “an equal and opposite reaction” of what ‘someone’ has done. Take for example these phrases:
“For God so loved the world…that every one who believes…” (John 3:16)
“I love God because He first loved me.” (from a hymn)
“…Because I (Jesus) live, you also shall live.” (John 14:19)
These are just some of the passages showing us that our love is a ‘because’ love, our life is a ‘because life’ and everything else seems to have a reason behind. This reason is nothing but the Lord Jesus Himself. Without Him, we are not. Oh, what grace it is to be loved by Him! Would you believe that the greatest person who made heavens and earth made Himself so small just to gain us, tiny people? Isn’t this a reason good enough to make us fall in love with Him? We’re here not just for nothing. We exist because He has a purpose. He wants to be loved back. He wants His purpose to be fulfilled. Most often, we just care for our own desires, but who has ever cared for His?
Thank the Lord for taking the lead for us. He has loved, lived, and did many things for us to follow yet just as the apostle Paul says, “not I, but the grace of God”. By His grace, we can reciprocate what the Lord does to us. We can love Him back, believe on Him, glorify Him, and so forth for the fulfillment of His purpose.
I am, because He is. He is in me, in my spirit, and so I am as He is.
